Maximum Records for PUT statement

In QB4, the PUT statment for files includes a RECORD or BYTE parameter which is an integer.
This implies a limit on RANDOM files of 65,535 records and a limit on BINARY files of 65,535 Bytes.
Is this true in QB64 as well? If not, what the the variable type for the parameter?
