Hi all,
    Hmmmmm.
OlDosLover.

I know, not as impressive,as the qb64,one  I did contact webs.com
to find out if there is a way to setup the qb64 one, from my web site,..in theory it could be done, if they allow it,once it was running it would be useing theyre IP:,and could be left running all the time,...in the mean while this one was real simple to add,......If Galleon sets up a server, then that will be nice,..
It maybe awhile before anyone gets  back to me from webs.com
My wife is not to sharp on computers, and I just put a direct access link, on the kids computer, so she can just send me a phone message, and then "click" the link, I can connect too,...so we do not go paying 2.50 pesos each message,
when we get exchangeing comments back and forth, it uses up as much "credit"
as talking,...take a look at this if you are interested
http://garryspages.webs.com
is the index, if you scroll down, you will see to leave comments,
or this is the direct link,...below
http://garryspages.webs.com/addcomments.html
Where you can either leave a message, or got to the chat,...
Edited: Note I made some changes to this, and would like to get any opinions, I think it is better

Anyway, I got to go ...

Hi all,
Your explanation make much sense. My Hmmm was more toward the security angle. If somene railroads this (if thats possible) where does that lead you? I'd like to see a dedicated chat "room" on our site too. Im just a bit worried about security. I may have this wrong though but that was the intention of my comment.

I don't think there is to much risk, allthough I may be wrong, because for one,
the chat widget, is actually, on another site, in my site, it is just a link, but it is just the chat, when one is useing that, they can`t use it to acess anything,
and the same with the messages on my site, all though yes a spammer, could fill the entire message buffer, with spam, but when it is filled, it starts, deleteing the older stuff , to open up room, for new messages. But also, that is all it allows, is to leave a message, there is no access to my site, editor,...so no one can use it to actually enter, my account, when I want to edit anything, add links, or change what the pages say, I don't access the URL, garryspages.webs.com,...I have to access webs.com, then I can acess my acount, where I can edit things,...Ok a "hacker", could hack the password, etc, and  cause some damge,...but not very easy,....This is a risk on anything involveing internet, which is why I would never use internet to make a payment,or purchase, if I had a credit card,...because, even though many people do, also, there are some that know how to get the info and use it,...
But that gets to why I like the qb64 chat board better,  it is safer, simply because ,not to many people use qb64,...of course someone could download qb64, and the compile the client ,(to connect to the server),.but even then all they access is the chat board, it dosen't give access to the computer files,etc....
Howevr, it could be kept even more secure, by for example, adding a register/login  require ment, or for example, the topic, that has the link, or IP adress, cant be seen  by guests, only registered /loggedin  members would be able to see the IP adress, ....and it seems like it would be pretty easy to add
a registration requirement, to the TCP/IP chat board, it self, where when you enter, your name, also a password, and if they don't match, no connect allowed,....all though, that ,is beyond, me , on the code side , but that might be a suggestion to Matt or someone writeing a program,...Dusty ? sounds like he might be able to figure that out...This SMF for Free dose have a chat addon, that we could use for this forum, but it is not for free,   Then the chat they have, on theyere forum, I think is partly to demonstrat, the program( ALEX),
it is pretty secure, be cause you do need to be registered, and logged in...
Mine, on my web site, is kind of risky,(for me),but not any user  but I am willing to take the risk, partly, as I will learn, form anything that may,but hopefully never occurs,...
Hmmm,! also,...guess thats about it on this now,...
More related to qb64, the fact that it has the capability to make a program  to host,as a server, and also as a client,to connect, opens up the possibility of being able to host games, and demos, where people can actually play the game,online,...or see the demo run on line...
Guess thats about it for now
from Garry (hope I make sense)

I had called it ALEX, it is AJAX but it is like the one they have on support,....I would do it, as it is a one time fee,....but I can't use pay pal, I could see if they take a payment by mail.
