Thats good way to do it.

After using one select case for rows and one for Columns,
You still  need another to use the newly found button

that makes three select cases verses one if.

What I like about select case though is its easier to follow
what the program is trying to do.

Its kind of like people saying dont use GOTO.

Im not sure three select cases would be noticable speed wise
as an if statement only checks till it finds an 'or' or 'and'
thats not true, then it jumps out of the if statement.

I think its a mater of personal preferance which ever gets used.

Seems prefectly ok to me to use select case.

No mater how it gets done, someone is going to have an opinion and
try to tell us we should have done it his or her way.  Grin

There are so many options in the basic language, Whos to say whats right.

Im just rattling my brain again. LOL

Hi

I use select case a lot in my programs too, and what
your saying is right. I didnt use it in the calculater, but probably would
been better if I had.

the computer I have now is fairly fast and I  couldnt see a differance in speed.
I remember my older computers I had,  I wrote code to run as fast as
posible cause I needed that speed  to do anything. My  son in law works
on computers and put this one together for me. didnt charge me as it was
mostly make from used parts. the last one I had was realy slow to the point
it wasnt a lot of fun to use it anymore.

The newer computers have kinda made some of us(me) sloppy coders,
Thats what happen to Microsoft, they think everyone owns a fast computer
so they can write sloppy code. (beta at that) Because speed is  no longer an
issue to them.

Anxious to see your Calculater prog. Its gona be cool!

PS  I havent figured out how to use the qoute thing yet.,  I tried to use it last night
and just made a big mess of my post so I deleted it and started over.  Grin

Hi all,
I agree thats its open source and freeware. All of my code is this way. I really like that its a collaboration effort. A package would be a nice professional touch i think. Yes i working on another version.
OlDosLover.

A update, as much as I hate remembering this hypocrite, scuzz butt,...I felt I should save this,
This guy is no longer a member of this forum, but shortly after he left, he started threatening me, claiming he "owns all of the code on this forum" so I am saving this as a quote,..I have deleted most of the code he posted, because most of it did not really work good anyway,
the rest of the code on this thread, was written by Dusty, anyway, and is good code, .
So anyway, all the code in this forum is open source and may be used anywhere, copied or whatever, no body "owns it".Not even me,

So anyway, this is the thread on makeing a calculator.  I just spent several hours editing it removeing all the junk code that did not work, and unnecessary comments,  also there were some drop box links, that no longer work, so I removed them.
I reposted one working version, by its self, but I think, there is a better one, I just have not yet had the chance to check it. I will update this again later, in a few days.
